The Delamars is an indie-folk project from the West of Ireland from writer/vocalist

Maria Shiel, guitarist/producer Cesar Benzoni and a host of other west-based musicians.

Original songs, written by the Atlantic ocean and fused with the musicality of the USA, take the listener on a trip from Galway Bay to the deep deserts of American country music, bluegrass, and Native American tribal rhythms. Their debut album Songs from the Sea

will feature themes of migration and belonging and will be officially released in

June 2020 in Galway alongside

"De la mar", meaning 'of the sea', is an old romantic phrase used by Spanish poets and sailors when speaking of the sea in the feminine form.

In the early 2000's she established Irish and American roots/hip-hop band Guava in Galway, Ireland and went on to tour nationally sharing stages with Damien Rice and Glen Hansard of the Frames.

In 2011 she set up collaborative record label KYO Records in Dublin to specifically promote international musical collaboration and went on to work with musicians from all over Europe, China, Russia, and the USA. She has had several releases under her electronic moniker MS44 and an EP produced by acclaimed Irish DJ/ producer Eomac

She has toured across the States playing at venues including CBGB’s, NY, and  The Bluebird Cafe, Nashville and has played songwriting festivals in Texas and Tennessee.

"..a beautiful mix of electronica inspired acoustics ...that brings with it thoughts of other female artists like Florence Welch..."

“Star” opens with an almost Enya-esque wall of ambient vocals... It’s the perfect soundtrack for a movie dreamscape. Maria sounds a little like Edie Brickell."
